I woke up this morning to quite an unusual sound. . .similar to the sound my cat Craigger used to make running across the roof at moms, but only multiplied by a thousand. After a woke up a bit more I realized it was rain. Then I realized the date, December 14.
Rain in Minnesota on December 14? Who knew. But knowing Minnesota I knew this would not last, that it would turn to snow or freeze up. I am not looking forward to driving to work tomorrow.
They are re-roofing the townhomes, because of alleged "hail damage." The crew did not finish the roof over my garage so I woke up to several leaks in my garage. I was not happy to see this so had to gather some buckets to catch the water and move some things around. There was nothing damaved because everything is in Rubbermaid bins, guess that is one obsession that worked out well for me. The association got a call but some of my neighbors had much more damage in their actual houses, I was very fortunate that it was only the garage and no valuable property was damaged. Thank goodness the mink is in cold storage and the Monet is at the summer house! : )
There was quite a bit of activity around here, the roofing supervisor came out and covered the holes in the building paper so that stopped that, and some guy drove out in a shiny black Hummer, and soon after there was a crew doing some clean up and a disaster recovery team was out. Apparently Hummer guy was not happy with what he saw and he called his minions to action soon thereafter. So tomorrow I have to take some time off work to come home and let the cleanup crew in the garage and place a heater and a dehumidifier to dry out the garage. But this should prevent mold growth and drywall does not have to be replaced.
