Right now I am watching Meryl Streep on David Letterman and she is having a coughing fit. I know exactly how she feels because I think she and I have the same cold!
I caught my third cold since September. I felt it Christmas Eve Day, then Christmas Day it was here to stay. I was getting over my last one then I caught this one. I have been coughing like crazy, so much so I have sore ribs. I swear I am going to break a rib or start coughing up blood soon, either that or I have the beginnings of tuberculosis. What is the worst is when I laugh then I start coughing. Which is what Dave is doing to poor Meryl, making her laugh then she coughs uncontrollably.
When I was in Barnes and Noble on Sunday I had a HUGE coughing fit, it was embarrassing. Yesterday was my worst day cough-wise, it was relentless. Today I am not medicated at all; I had been alternating between Theraflu at night, Mucinex twice a day and the Alka Seltzer cold and sinus during the day. Theraflu is like drinking poison and the Alka Seltzer tastes like God-Knows-What, it is in that "smells good but tastes awful" category. I don't have any of my "German Cough Medicine" (peppermint schnapps) on hand.
The only good thing about having this cold now is I took the week off from work so I can rest up as much as I need to while at home.
So I have a few days to rest up and get better before work begins again, school begins and work on "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" starts.
